On page/ off page SEO
SEO can be a minefield, even for those who are in the know. So how do you go about optimising your website?
First thing is first, what is SEO or ‘search engine optimisation’?
SEO is how your website is found on search engine platforms such as Google or Bing, and how you best optimise your website for it to be found amongst the hundreds or thousands of other websites out there.
There are several ways of optimising your website but let us start with the organic (and free) ways!
- Look at your key words: Key words are what your customer is putting into a search engine tool in order to find your product or service. What are these words and do you use them (in context and appropriately) on your website in order to be found?
- Alt text: Are you completing your alt text in an appropriate way?
- Backlinks: Are you using high quality back links with others so that you may be able to cross refer?
Other ways you may be able to increase your SEO, especially of your website and business is new, is to consider using pay per click or PPC in order to get your website seen. This is especially good if you are a serviced based business operating in a local area. Once you become known and the Google or Bing testimonials come flooding in, you will rank higher in the listings for your website also.
